BIODIVERSITY AND FLOWER BULBS
As bees and other insects emerge after the long winter, they will be searching for sources of food to help build the colonies into spring. Flowerbulbs offer the much needed pollen for bees, bumblebees and butterflies, which makes them very suitable to enhance biodiversity.
With this knowledge JUB Holland has cooperated with the Dutch Beekeepers Association (NBV), the Butterfly Foundation and the British Beekeepers Association (BBKA). The joint project resulted in various long flowering bee and butterfly mixtures.
BENEFITS OF THE JUB BIODIVERSITY MIXTURES:
- Long flowering period
- Early flowering
- Good for bees, butterflies and other insects
- Naturalising (will come back for many years under the right conditions)
- Extra financial support for the NBV and the BBKA
JUB HOLLAND HELPS BEES
For every m2 planted JUB makes a donation to the NBV and to Friends of the Honey Bee (BBKA). The donations will go towards scientific research into combating a major threat to bees – the varroa mite – and teaching people how they can support bees through planting.
