Product omschrijving
The flowers of the Iris germanica Red Zinger are beautifully shaped and have a red colour.Iris germanica comes in beautiful varieties. The upright petals often have a different colour than the hanging petals. This gives a beautiful colour contrast within one flower. The so-called beard is on the lower petals. That is why these irises are also called Bearded iris.Iris germanica Red Zinger is a hardy perennial and grows well in the open ground. The plant has thick rhizomes. These thick roots should be planted shallowly and almost horizontally as soon as possible after delivery. First loosen the soil well. Improve heavy garden soil by mixing in sharp sand. Make a mound in the planting hole. Place the thick rhizomes of the bearded irises approx. 1 cm below ground level on the mound. Fill the planting hole with soil and press firmly. Water immediately after planting. The planting distance is approx. 25-30 cm.These irises grow and flower well in a spot in full sun or partial shade in well-drained, fairly dry soil. The sword-shaped, grey-green leaves finish at the end of the summer, but new leaves appear again in the autumn. Cover the plants in the winter with a layer of fallen leaves or some branches. Cut off all the leaves in the spring. New shoots will soon appear above the ground.-
