JUB Holland unveils the theme for the Keukenhof border 2026: The Field of Gold
Some designs don’t just show spring… they make it shimmer. For 2026, JUB Holland reveals the new theme that gives its Keukenhof border a distinctive narrative: The Field of Gold. An ode to light, movement and that warm, almost tangible glow created when golden hues are paired with contrast, tension and emotion.

The creative vision behind The Field of Gold

Since 2019, JUB Holland has had the honour of presenting its own annual design at Keukenhof — and each year the concept is created by garden and landscape designer Carien van Boxtel. Her signature has become unmistakable: compositions that go beyond colour to build atmosphere; planting schemes in which botanical knowledge, art-historical references and a strong sense of landscape merge seamlessly.

For The Field of Gold, Van Boxtel drew inspiration from two distinct yet closely related sources: the softly rippling barley fields from Sting’s iconic song Fields of Gold, and the charged, rhythmic brushwork of Van Gogh’s Wheatfield with Crows. Both images speak of movement, of time, of harvest and renewal. These are precisely the elements that form the narrative backbone of this new design.

A season unfolding in waves

The Field of Gold is not a static image, but a season in motion. Throughout the entire Keukenhof opening period — from 19 March to 10 May — a rich selection of tulips and a wide range of naturalising bulbs succeed one another in a carefully orchestrated sequence.

The result is an early, sparkling spring glow, followed by apricot and peach tones that add depth to the gold, culminating in a finale of contrasting near-black and deep blue accents that make the whole composition vibrate. It is this very build-up that makes JUB designs so recognisable — long-flowering, layered and always full of surprise.

Keukenhof: a stage with global impact

Each year, Keukenhof provides the stage on which seven million bulbs tell their spring story. Every single bulb is planted by hand by Keukenhof’s skilled team of 40 gardeners — precision work that forms the foundation of the spectacular result. From mid-March to mid-May, visitors from around the world follow the borders, pathways and statement beds that give the park its international reputation.

For JUB Holland, Keukenhof is a special place. Less than ten minutes from our nursery in Noordwijkerhout, each design gains a visibility that extends far beyond the park itself. It is the ultimate showcase where craftsmanship, growing quality and creativity come together — and where our long-flowering mixtures truly come into their own.

A distinctive collection

Since 2019, JUB’s Keukenhof designs have found their way into planting schemes across Europe. The mixtures are valued for their layered character, reliable seasonal progression and strong flowering performance. The complete collection is available for public green-space projects, allowing the same powerful structure, the same story and that unmistakable spring energy to be realised well beyond Keukenhof.
