Product omschrijving
"Flowers of Iris germanica 'Night Owl' have a nice shape and a deep purple colour. Iris germanica come in beautiful varieties. The upright petals often have a different colour than the drooping petals. This gives a nice colour contrast within one flower. On the lower petals is the so-called 'beard'. That is why these irises are also called 'Bearded iris'. Iris germanica 'Night Owl' is a hardy perennial and grows well in the garden. The plant has thick rhizomes. These thick roots should be planted shallowly and almost horizontally as soon as possible after receipt. First loosen the soil well. Improve heavy garden soil by mixing in sharp sand. Make a mound in the planting hole. Place the thick rhizomes of the bearded irises about 1 cm below ground level on the knoll. Fill the planting hole with soil and press firmly. Water immediately after planting. The planting distance is approx. 25-30 cm. These irises grow and flower well in full sun or partial shade in well-drained, fairly dry soil. The sword-shaped, grey-green leaves die off at the end of summer, but new leaves appear in the fall. In winter, cover the plants with a layer of fallen leaves or some branches. Cut off all the leaves in the spring. Soon new shoots will appear above the ground. "-
